Where to Go On a Night Out in Paris

In Paris, wine bars dominate the nightlife options, but there are plenty of other options as well.

Bar hopping is one of our favorite things to do in the romantic city of Paris. A night out amongst the cobbled streets can do wonders for one’s state of mind. A popular destination for local Parisians who want a taste of nightlife, the 11th arrondissement is a great neighborhood that’s littered with restaurants and bars. While it isn’t the most glamorous of neighborhoods in Paris, it is the most recognized neighborhood for fun. If you’re ever in the area or are renting an apartment in Paris, here’s our list of the best bars you should hit up in the 11th.

La Buvette

A wine geek’s dream, at La Buvette, owner Camille Fourmont walks you through the intricacies of wine. Having sharpened her senses and palate at many of Paris’ most prestigious establishments, you’ll be able to wine and dine to your satisfaction at this quaint bar. The service is amazing and every one of Camille’s recommendations are worth a try.

Septime La Cave

Head to the southern end of the 11th at Septime La Cave, where you will find a tiny but his small tiny but well-established wine bar. While packed into a narrow building, you’ll spend as much time appreciating their selection of wine as you will rubbing shoulders with the locals. Try to grab a stool if you can, and choose a few tapas to snack on as your bartender picks a wine to match your selections. If the place is packed too tightly, take a look at Le Siffleur de Ballons, an equally fun and hip wine bar that’s located just outside the 11th in the 12th arrondissement.

Les Niçois

Les Niçois is a nice little spot to head to after a pre-dinner drink if you’re looking for some French Mediterranean food. During the day, it’s a quiet neighborhood café, but by night, it becomes a popular space for young locals to have a drink or to play petanque in the basement. The café, which is named after the residents of the southern city of Nice, is the perfect place to wine and dine in the city. If you are visiting this establishment, make sure you try the French aperitif pastries — you won’t regret it!

Les Enfants Terrible

Another good option if you’re into live jazz or salsa music is to visit Les Enfants Terrible, located on 63 Rue St Maur. This corner bar is the perfect neighborhood spot featuring a variety of wines and no-fuss drinks. Imagine sipping your wine as a live band tantalizes your senses with those smooth jazz lines. If poetry is more enjoyable for you, take a look at Au Chat Noir, a bar where you can catch English-speaking poets pour their souls out every Monday at 8 p.m.

La Fine Mousse

Who said the only thing you can drink in France is wine? Even though France is the land of wine, there’s always room for a cold pint of beer. La Fine Mousse is a pleasant restaurant and bar that’s nestled away in an odd corner of the 11th. With 20 taps that include varying craft brews from around the globe, you can grab a bite and a cold one at this fine establishment.
